If we can find some sort of way to bring it to the Wii, a way to make the game for the Wii that makes sense, we would happily do so, but just keep in mind it may not be me making the game.” - Yoshio Sakamoto

So….Sakamoto doesn’t know of any Kid Icarus project underway. That either squashes those rumors we heard awhile back, or Nintendo is keeping some of their best developers out of the loop on this project. Which one do you think is more probable!?

…for 1000 Wii Points ($10), games don’t get much better than this. If you like platformers that tickle your grey matter, you shouldn’t miss NyxQuest. The sights, the sounds, and the interesting puzzles really set the game apart from anything else on WiiWare right now.

Kensa X gets a new name

Apparently Kensa X was a pretty strange name for Nintendo’s upcoming Wii game about Google search data. Thankfully the Big N has changed the name, but this new title is just about as weird as the first. The new name is “Ando Kensaku”, and when you’re talking in Japanese terms, this name is peculiar as well. All of these names center around the word for ’search’, but all the rest is a mystery!

“I think realism, that’s the key. The ability to see yourself in 3D space, to interact your depth from the screen, your motion, whether it’s a big motion or a subtle motion, the ability to have that motion controller in your hand and do something as subtle as painting or writing and then take that to swinging a golf club, swinging a sword or an axe, and to have that experience feel just like it is. It’s so difficult to describe until you get that ping-pong paddle in your hand. If you’ve played some ping-pong you’ll be good at it… If you’re an expert at our ping-pong game you’re going to be great at the tables, if you’re not good at the tables you’re going to struggle a little bit until you get the hang of it. It’s not just a simple flick of the wrist where you can fake it and I think we’ve all seen other games where you think you’re a great golfer so you’ll be great at motion gaming golf and you suck, [or] you think you’re great at motion gaming golf and you think that makes you a good golfer and you can’t. There’s going to be a pretty good translation here. If you’re good at fighting or swinging weapons you’re probably going to be pretty good at our motion gaming.” - SCE America boss, Jack Tretton

Man, taking jabs left and right at the Wii! It’s almost like Sony is pretending that whatever the Wii did had no influence on their new direction with the PS3. I don’t think Sony or Microsoft would be heading in the direction of motion without the Wii’s success.

Europe - No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle fact sheet

Leading videogames publisher Rising Star Games, today confirms that No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii, is on track to be released throughout Europe at the end of April 2010.

Soaked in slick graphic novel-style visuals, No More Heroes 2 is clever, mature and further validates the series’ reputation as one of the most original and unique games on the Wii. The story follows Travis Touchdown who now finds himself the 51st ranked assassin – placed at the bottom of the UAA (United Assassins Association) table. He has to fight his way back to the top, while seeking revenge for the murder of his best friend.

Legendary developer Suda 51 is naming No More Heroes 2 the game he’s always wanted to make – playing on the original’s strengths – complete with smart storyline, refined combat (utilising two beam katanas) and characters, and red blood. Lots and lots of red blood.

“The first No More Heroes game fast built a reputation as a benchmark in the Wii’s capabilities, and was brave and bold enough to stand out from the crowd as an antidote to the glut of party games on the market for the console,” says Martin Defries, managing director, Rising Star Games. “It was one of the few games on the Wii that truly deserved the undivided attention of gamers across all formats and No More Heroes 2 promises to take this to the next level.”

Accolades for a new IP on the Wii were impressive too. NGamer scored the original No More Heroes 94%, Edge awarded it 9/10, GamesMaster and GamesTM scored it 90%, and Official Nintendo Magazine gave it 88%.

In the US, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle continues to live up to the series’ expectations.

Is Zelda Wii going to make it out before 2010 passes us? Things are actually looking good for that outcome! We know that Metroid: Other M and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are hitting in just a few months, which leaves the holiday season completely open. Nintendo isn’t talking about the second half of the year until E3. Could we see the Vitality Sensor and Zelda Wii as the one-two punch from Nintendo?

What a relaxing night I had. I went and picked up a game, came back to the warehouse and just chilled out with Mom B.. There was some TV watchin, some chit-chatting, and ton of relaxation. I have to make sure I take this approach next week! For now though, it’s on with the regular work schedule! Tonight has ended for me, so I’ll catch you guys in just a few, short hours. Hope you’re all doing well!

I have been getting tons of emails about Sony’s GDC 2010 panel concerning Playstation Move. For those that don’t know, Sony has officially given a name to their motion controller setup for the PS3. There’s a Wiimote-like device, as well as a Nunchuk-like device. There’s also a game coming out called Sports Champions that looks a lot like Wii Sports/Wii Sports Resort. The similarities keep rolling in, and Nintendo fans are getting downright fuming over the situation.

Some people see these Sony similarities as a positive for Nintendo. This new controller setup for the PS3 has all but confirmed that Nintendo set the motion control trend for this generation. Nintendo alone has made motion controlled gaming a success…so much so that the other hardware companies are pouring millions of dollars into devices that offer motion solutions for their platforms. There’s no doubt that both Sony and Microsoft have seen just how well things worked out for Nintendo, and now those guys want a piece of the motion pie.

On the other hand, there are Nintendo fans that can’t believe just how closely Sony is mimicking Nintendo with their motion controller approach. I’m sure the Sony tech will provide a somewhat richer experience, but when it boils down to the nuts and bolts, this is the PS3 Wiimote and Nunchuk solution. There’s a Wii Sports clone in there, and somehow Sony doesn’t seem embarrassed about any of this. You would think that out of sheer respect for the competition, Sony would try to put their own spin on the Wii idea. From what I’ve seen, I really can’t say that Sony went for a brand-new approach, but instead opted for the me-too solution.

I’m not trying to say that Sony’s tech doesn’t deserve a shot because it so closely resembles what Nintendo did with the Wii. I’m just, quite frankly, shocked at how little they changed. I guess Sony is doing what they feel is the only way to success and motion-controlled gaming.

Now I open up the floor to you guys. You’ve made it very clear that you have opinions on this topic, so hit up the comments section and let loose. Defend Sony, attack Sony…just please keep it civil, and respect your fellow readers!

Looks like Nintendo does actually have plans of continuing the Everyone’s Recommendation Selection in Japan. Two more titles are going to be added on April 22nd, and of course, they come with the budget price as well. Now, if we could only get this line of games running in Japan…

Well…can you tell the difference? GamesRadar has put together a bunch of pictures with the controllers blocked out, and it’s up to you to guess if the images are Playstation Move related, or Wii originals. Unfortunately GamesRadar doesn’t tell us which is which, because they thought it would be ‘funny’. I think it’s just lame, but I’m sure you guys can still figure out the answers!

I can’t wait to see how well games like ‘Sports Champion’ do at retail, compared to Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. I honestly have no idea if people are going to buy into this ‘new platform’ or not. One thing’s for sure, though. It’s going to be very hard to catch up to Nintendo’s lead!

And I also think that a game doesn’t need to have all of those items in the future. We can create additional downloadable content for people to add, too. It doesn’t have to come with that game itself.” - Square-Enix director, Motomu Toriyama

Should we even bother talking about the future of the Final Fantasy series? Square-Enix has already said that there’s really no hope of the next, true entry coming to Wii. I guess it all depends on what Nintendo does console-wise in the next 5-6 years. At least we’re getting Dragon Quest X, right!?
